What is WPBA?

The Women’s Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) is a professional women’s pool tour in the United States. It was founded in 1976 as the Women’s Professional Billiard Alliance by players Madelyn Whitlow and Palmer Byrd and by Larry Miller, editor of the National Billiard News. 

WPBA carries many responsibilities:

  • Promote and govern professional women’s billiards.
  • Organize and sanction tournaments.
  • Establish rules and provide a platform for female pool players to compete professionally.

The organization aims to enhance the visibility and popularity of women’s billiards and support the development and recognition of female pool players.

1. Kelly FisherKelly Fisher

Kelly Fisher is one of the most famous female pool players with the proudest career achievement. She started to play pool in her parents’ pub and began playing snooker at 13. By age 21, she had achieved the No. 1 ranking for two consecutive seasons.

Her most prestigious coaching role is with the Hong Kong National Team, where she teaches and trains athletes at the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

Wei is renowned for her strategic gameplay and precise shots. Her skill in executing complex shots, such as three-rail shots, and her consistent high-level performance have made her a formidable opponent in the sport.

3. Jasmin OuschanJasmin Ouschan

Jasmin Ouschan

Jasmin Ouschan was the first woman to achieve gold medals in all four disciplines (eight-ball, nine-ball, ten-ball, and straight pool) at the 2010 Pool & Billiard European Championship. She regularly competed with men on the Euro Tour and became the first woman to earn a medal in an open world pool championship in 2008.

Ouschan’s career began early, influenced by her family’s ownership of a pool hall. She has been trained by Michael Neumann since she was six and continues to train with him.

Known as the “Duchess of Doom,” her powerful and strategic play has earned her widespread recognition and admiration. As a pioneer for female players, Fisher has broken countless barriers and paved the way for future generations of women in snooker and pool.

5. Margarita FefilovaMargarita Fefilova

Fefilova is considered one of the most beautiful female pool players with blonde hair and bright smile. She first achieved success in 2011 when she reached the semi-finals in her debut national eight-ball competition. 

In April 2015, Fefilova made history by winning the first Belarusian medal at the European Championships. Along with Yana Shut, she became the first Belarusian billiard player to receive state funding.

Kristina Zlateva is a talented female pool player from Bulgaria who has had several high finishes in major tournaments. As a student of the game and a computer programmer by trade, she uses an analytical approach to solving problems on the billiards table.

In 2024 alone, Kristina earned $16,763.00 in prize money, with notable  Placements.

Kaylee McIntosh is a rising star in the world of professional pool. One of her proudest career achievements is finishing 8th in the WPBA overall ranking in her first year on tour.
